Paulo's
Report About Cabochons
by
Paulo Buencamino, age 11
I
drew an oval around a slab of onyx.
I
cut off as much excess material as possible.
I
used a sharpie to make marks.
Then
I put it on a dop stick.
Then I cut
barely over it using a coarse saw.
Then it came out almost oval but not yet smooth.
I used a finer
saw to make it into a smooth oval shape.
To avoid flat spots, I kept the rock moving.
Then
I polished it using a polisher.
Right
after polishing, I put the dop stick along with the cab stuck to
it into the freezer.
The cab came off . .
